Why Are Wedding Photographers So Expensive?

Because you are not paying for a few hours of standing in a pretty room. You are paying for a day that cannot be repeated, gear that has to work, and a week of editing after everyone else has gone home.

Three wedding rings on a glossy surface: a silver band, gold braided band, and diamond solitaire ring with reflections.

The day is one take

If a portrait session goes wrong, you reschedule. If a ceremony goes wrong, you still got married. The photographs have to work the first time, in whatever light the venue and weather give you.

That risk is built into the fee.

What the fee is actually covering

  • Backup bodies, lenses, flash, and cards on site

  • Insurance

  • The Saturday that cannot be sold twice

  • Culling and color work that often outlasts the wedding itself

  • Years of capturing formals family portraits so cocktail hour doesn't get missed

Why LA prices sit higher

Cost of living, demand on peak dates, and venue complexity all push quotes up. Experienced full-day work clustering between $3,500 and $7,000 is the market, not a quirk. Overview: wedding photography cost in Los Angeles.

Expensive and worth it are different questions. See is a good photographer worth it.

We keep pricing published and hours-based: book / pricing.
