The Thursday Club is a 1926 Mediterranean clubhouse in La Cañada Flintridge: walled courtyard, oak tree, fountain, bougainvillea gates, and a 1,920 sq. ft. ballroom.
Capacity is 130. 2026–27 venue rental is a $6,900 flat rate for 10 hours.
We are preferred photographers here. Cindy and I got married at the Thursday Club. We’ve shot 20+ weddings on this property.

Why this venue photographs well
The courtyard is the reason people book it. Wrought-iron gates, fountain, oak, garden walls. It feels private. You are still 15 minutes from Pasadena.
The ballroom is the reason the night works. Stage, dance floor, globe string lights, piano, AC. Summer ceremony heat does not follow you inside.
What people get wrong: they treat it like a big estate. It isn’t. It’s intimate. Past about 120 guests the room gets tight due to too many tables Under 100, this place sings.
A lot of Thursday Club couples do a first look or portraits at Pasadena City Hall the same day, then come back for the 1pm access window.

Photography tips we use on every Thursday Club date
Ceremony time
Afternoon courtyard sun is hard. Shade the vows under the oak or along the garden wall. Don’t put the couple facing west into late-day glare. Suggest you start about 2 hours before sundown!
First look
The front doorway and bridal-suite hall have the cleanest detail light in the building — that’s where the dress shot lives. Courtyard first looks work if you keep backs to the brightest wall.
Family formals
Do them on the grass area near the fountain or in front of the entrance doors between the two old trees. Once trays come out, you’ve lost the clean background.
Ballroom
String lights plus mixed tungsten. We expose for faces, not the ceiling. Uplights help but don't go crazy with changing colors. Don’t let the DJ blow the stage white.
Timeline
1pm–10pm is the block of time you can be on the premises. One hour after 10pm to 11pm is for clean up only. If you want getting-ready on site, 1-2pm window or get ready off-site and arrive camera-ready. Ten hours disappears fast with load-in, set up etc, and portraits. You are required to have a coordinator. Need help, just ask!
Second photographer
Worth it here. Courtyard ceremony angles, getting ready time and overall coverage you will find a second was worth the investment and we can do getting ready to ceremony 2nd camera coverage if you want.
How to see the club
Tours are by appointment through the venue: lacanadathursdayclub.org/weddings
They also run open houses, often on Sunday. We set up there when they host. Check their Instagram or Eventbrite for the next date.

What is the parking like at the Thursday Club?
It is fantastic. There is more parking available than you could possibly need and it is close so you don't have to walk far.
When is the bougainvillea in bloom there?
Typically the bougainvillea blooms from April through October. Hot summers can damage it so there are times when it is not there and its usually gone during the winter season.
How far in advance should we book?
Most couples book 6–12 months out, but it never hurts to check your date as soon as you know you are ready.
How can I visit the location to see it?
There are quarterly open houses there. The next open house is Sunday June14, 2026 from 3pm to 5pm. We will be there! Secure your free tickets at Eventbright.com
When should we do our ceremony there?
You can be on the property on your wedding day from 1pm to 10pm for your event. Always plan your outdoor ceremony at least an hour before sunset - so around 3pm or so in the winter and no later than 5pm in the summer otherwise you will feel jammed for daylight and overall reception time.
