Common Questions Frequently Asked
FAQ
How far in advance should we book LA Digital Photo for our wedding?
Whether you hire us or another company, you should hire them after checking that they are available and as soon as you know you want them. Waiting will cost you more times that not. LA Digital Photo is headed by Tom Keene and can provide other photographers as primary coverage as well. No one on our team has less than 10 years of photography experience.
Do you travel for weddings outside Los Angeles County?
Yes of course we can cover your wedding outside of Los Angeles County. We currently provide our photography services free of travel fees from San Diego County to San Luis Obispo to Bakersfield without travel fees. We will also provide our services anywhere else in the United States and beyond with additional costs that include travel and lodging. Please contact us for specifics.

What wedding photography packages do you offer? And can we customize it?
LA Digital Photo provides a number of packages, but consider these a starting point. Every event is unique and we can certainly customize it to fit your needs, based on the number of hours you need, how many guests you will have, location outside our "normal" coverage area and can accommodate multiple photographers, videography services as well as provide you with special rate with DJ/MC's we work with closely and even photo booth services as well. Go take a look at our current pricing information. - GO TO PRICING
Do your packages include engagement sessions?
We have in the past, but since some cultures need other ways to celebrate this moment in your lives, we have opted to lower our pricing overall and let it be an option. With that, if you don't need it, you don't pay for it. But with LA Digital Photo our goal is to give you exactly what you want, not a cookie cutter set of options. For a standard American engagement session that typically takes about 1 hour and has no clothing changes or multiple locations our rate is $325. Again with all things we are certainly able to take into account cultural needs including many Asian cultures that want Pre Wedding Shoots which differ from American Engagements by often requiring multiple days of shooting or longer 3 hour or more sessions with multiple locations and wedding day clothing/dresses that are often rented from local dress shops. Please just contact us if you have a question. You can also try and win a free engagement session here.

How many hours of coverage do you recommend for a wedding day?
At LA Digital Photo we really love to have you decide this, but in 90% of cases, coverage is either 6 hours or 8 hours of length. If you want to read a blog entry that Tom wrote about this subject and how he believes you should get this to be the most timely way, go to this link.
How many photos do we receive from our wedding? How long does it take to get your photos?
This is a very relevant question to ask any photographer before you book them. There is a number and you should know it. Historically, most photographers out there provide a specific number of edited images. From 300-600 seem to be most common. LA Digital Photo is unlike most companies, we provide them all! Yes all images are edited and provided to you in under 10 days 95% of the time. And that 5% that are not, are done within 20 days max! As of the time of writing this in 2025 Tom has been known to hit upwards to 3000 images in an 8 hour wedding. Most of the others average around 2000+ but that can vary since an 8 hour wedding day with 50 guests has a lot less to cover than one with 300. We never delete your images to make room for them on a USB drive. This is frankly old tech, not always reliable over time and that is why we host your event for AT LEAST 2 YEARS! This gives you time to save, send, print and share easily with family and friends.
For videography coverage, our turn around time is more than likely 2 months and includes drone coverage to set an establishing shot(s), all recorded audio files and all RAW video captured - AT NO EXTRA COST!
Do you edit all the wedding photos we receive?
As mentioned above the simple answer is YES!
Can we request specific shots or poses?
Yes you can but we ask you to do something with these... We will not need a 10 page list of shots like "a photo of my ring, a photo of my shoes, a photo of my mom giving me a kiss..." These standard images are expected to be captured and if you give a list like this to a photographer, their head will be down and with pen in hand worrying about check marks on your list and not what is happening around them. We have a process to make it through family photos, and if you have difficult sub families or parents who have remarried etc, that info we do want. If you want your grandma to be in certain photos and not others etc, we do highly recommend you have someone like a cousin or aunt handle the list of family photos so the photographer can focus on the photo in front of them and not having to get everyone ready for the next group. Our goal is to document your event, not micro manage it, to ensure we get what happened and not fake moments and set ups. This is your wedding, not a movie set. But if you have a moment on the fly and you want to get something, just let us know.
Do you provide a second photographer for weddings?
Tom will always tell you there is a reason to have multiple photographers and there are more reasons not to have them. We really do need to write a blog about this subject but we will try to make this as concise as we can here for you, or pick up the phone and call or text Tom, or chat with him on our site here.
So here goes:
Reasons to have more than one photographer- You and your fiance are getting ready miles apart and you want equal coverage for both of you. You are having a guest list that is over 150 guests, you just love photos and want to see over 4000 images of your wedding day (Again remember that most seconds out there are friends or significant others of the primary and so most of the photos they shoot will likely never be seen.). With LA Digital Photo all our photogs are primary photographers so you will absolutely end up with a ton of extra and unique moments captured. That about covers it for most needs. Many of our couples who want a second also tend to hire us for their photo booth as well. With that we can add a second photographer for the getting ready time and the ceremony when it is most needed and then that person will cover the booth. It is more economical for you and it works really well in most if not all cases.
Again, if you just want it, say so and you will have a second. Just keep in mind, what we do vs. what others do. If you don't hire us and you go with someone else, ask... just ask the other company to provide you with a full wedding that had a second and have them either show you or go look yourself, it should be easy to see, what a second added to your days coverage and if it is really worth it to you to have it.
This can be a hot topic for some, so please as mentioned before, just reach out and we will go over your day and discuss this is detail.
What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
Well, that means you are going to get wet and likely so are we at some point. Be sure during the rainy season you have a back up plan to have a tent or a venue that has the option for an indoor ceremony and reception.
Can you photograph both the bride and groom getting ready?
Yes in most cases this is easy. We refer you to read the question above about needed a second photographer. Since most brides take 1-2 hours and guys take 15 minutes to get ready, there is always time to capture both, we simply bounce back and forth , IF and a very big IF, you are getting ready in a hotel or airbnb and you are close to each other. If you are across town and you are OK with a quick version of the groom getting ready, we can still get this. If you want full equal coverage for both of you, hire a second photographer.
What is your style of wedding photography?
We are all known as portrait photojournalists. What does that mean? Great question and frankly the best way to understand this is to go to one of our clients galleries, get a coffee and sit in a comfy chair and just go through an entire wedding day we have shot. Our client galleries are complete from beginning to end and you will best understand what it is we do here at LA Digital Photo. But in laymans terms, it basically means we capture candids and your portraits with equal professionalism. We can help you pose and we are always looking for that next great moment as it happens.
How do we reserve our wedding date?

First confirm we are available. Second, one you are ready, we will send you a contract to complete and have you provide a retainer payment to lock your date for each service we provide. Vendors that we refer you to have their own contracts.
How long have you been photographing weddings in Los Angeles?
Tom Keene has been running LA Digital Photo since 2003. Our team has no less than 10 years experience in their field.
Can you recommend wedding venues or vendors in LA?
Absolutely, in fact we always write reviews for each venue we have shot at over the years and you can find them on our Blog page. But since we don't always continually go to all of these venues, once a couple years pass we delete these reviews, since most venues have staff's that change out and owners can change. But for many of those key places we shoot all the time, go here to read blogs about venues or go there to our referral page.
