Current Huntington Library Engagement & Portrait Fees
If you’re dreaming of stunning engagement photos or family portraits at The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, you’re not alone. The lush gardens, iconic rose garden, lily ponds, and historic architecture create some of the most beautiful backdrops in Southern California.
Base fee: $1,200 for a 3-hour portrait/engagement session (up to 5 people including the photographer, still photos only).
Golf cart (recommended): +$250. Videographer (one person, one camera): +$250. Book at least 30 days ahead and no more than 6 months out. Common restrictions include no tripods, limited extra lighting in some areas, no outfit changes, and no proposal photography.
Wedding ceremony rentals start much higher—roughly $40,000–$50,000+; ceremony + reception packages from about $150,000.
Is Huntington Worth the Permit Cost?
The Huntington is a world-class backdrop—rose garden, lily ponds, historic architecture. The high fee helps preserve the grounds and limits professional shoots. It’s worth it if you want a luxury, editorial look and the budget supports it. If not, the alternatives below deliver beautiful results for far less.
