Ceremony and Reception - Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ventura

Upon my arrival to the Ventura Crowne Plaza Hotel for their wedding, I was so happy to see it was going to be a beautiful day for these two. Very little wind, blue sky behind some clouds, and a nice 73 degrees. I was supposed to capture some photos of the groom, an avid surfer, but he decided to stop just a few minutes before I arrived.
What a day it was!
Since I was there an hour earlier than needed, I went to find the coordinator to see how the room was looking. I had no idea this was going to be a beach Halloween wedding.

They were only expecting about 30 guests or so and they had this huge room at the hotel at the very top. What a view! Their original room was having AC issues so the got the best room. What a lucky day it's going to be!
Ooops!
Normally, I would catch stuff like this instantly, but with some time to kill I walked around their banquet hall and starting getting some room photos. I didn't notice that the bride, who had made this amazing name place holders for the guests, had written the groom's name incorrectly. Briana mentioned it to me later. Poor Skyer. I mean Skyler.
More time to kill...
Now the bride and groom didn't want any of the traditional moments of the getting ready, so now I had even more time to keep busy. So I went downstairs and started walking towards where the surfers were and where I should have captured Skyler.
Not the groom
After a few minutes of this I walked back to the hotel in hopes of getting something of the couple before they had their wedding. I had the guys come down and their mom was there. I love doing this shot for moms.

Okay the guests were ready, the couple was ready so we started. Beach weddings can be a lot of fun and very pretty.

These two have been together since they were 13 or 14. It is so rare to hear this happening nowadays. His heart must have been racing.
And there she was!
Briana was escorted down the stairs by her mom and dad. Look at that bouquet and look at those smiles.
And so it happened. A moment, Briana's dad said would happen all those years ago. Skyler wed his childhood sweetheart. I need a tissue, I am getting teary eyed.
Congratulations to you both. You are such amazing people!
