Huntington Beach, CA Newland Barn

I really look forward to come back to a venue that I have not shot at in a long time. And this may be one of the longest since it was back in 2006 the last time I was here at the Newland Barn.

What an amazing day. Perfect 75 degrees, a bit windy perhaps, but otherwise perfect. This is the kind of venue that you may want to consider having 2 photographers. With the ladies getting ready at an Airbnb about 2 miles away and the guys already ready at the venue, it just made it easier. It was also nice to be able to get the cocktail hour covered as well since there were a lot of people from out of town.

The Newland Barn House

Now, you cannot go in here but what a great spot for your family photos and your romantics during sunset. As you can see the property is celebrating its 125th year. It really has not changed as best as I can tell, so congratulations to the city of Huntington Beach who are the caretakers of this property. Most of the event takes place on the other side.

If you want an inexpensive outdoor wedding, look no further than this little gem.

Here we go!

With no real place to stage yourselves, you really have to get started once the bride arrives. On the side of the Barn there is a small path where you can line up next to the parking lot that holds 60 cars. Don't worry this 200 person capacity, outdoors, has other parking in front of the venue that can accommodate the rest.

What great colors for an October wedding. Great choice Rebekah.

There she is!

Rebekah was all smiles. As a bride should be, but many are not due to stress and other obstacles in the day. Rebekah was radiant.

The ring exchange.

Now I try to always talk to the couple before the ceremony to explain to the how to make sure you get the ring on the right (in this case actually the left) hand. Derek missed it and crossed over, but no worries, it really happens a lot. I was happy to see that the couple had chosen to not get married in the gazebo. Really hard for us to capture you in there and for your guests to see. The bride and groom were a bit off center at first but we eventually got them closer. Once this happens it is really hard to get their attention. So a special note to the made of honor and the best man, make sure the couple is centered and that you are too!

The First Dance

Everyone was watching them and it didn't faze them at all.

The Generations

I try to get this shot but not as often as I should. When you have the opportunity to celebrate those that came before you and led the way to the person you are, make sure I do this shot!.

Phew. Finally a moment to sit down.

The venue at night looks amazing. And so do these two.

As the day came to an end it was finished off by a pretty silhouette of an iconic Californian palm tree.

Congratulations to this lovely couple. Thank you for allowing Cindy and I to capture your wedding day.

Enjoy viewing the rest of their day!
