Well actually it was nearly his front yard.  The Horton Bay General Store has a very rich history.  Ernest Hemingway spent his youth and summers in this quant little place on Lake Charlevoix, which was named Pine Lake back in his day.  Many of his Nick Adams stories take place in the area right around here.
